Prescribe with confidence against constantly changing formularies

PrefeRx gives clinicians instant visibility into drug coverage for a patient's exact insurance plan, before the pharmacy calls back.

The problem

Every clinician knows the cycle: new formularies drop each month, tiers shift, prior auth requirements appear, and quantity limits tighten. Suddenly, perfectly reasonable scripts get rejected. Pharmacy calls. Re-writes. Delayed care. Lost time.

Some clinicians spend 1-2 hours per day handling pharmacy callbacks from formulary surprises. It shouldn't be this hard to prescribe consistently.

What PrefeRx does

  • Search medications or drug classes (e.g., GLP-1, liraglutide)
  • See month-over-month formulary changes instantly
  • Catch new PA requirements, tier moves, and quantity limits
  • Prescribe a covered option the first time

Behind the scenes, we continuously retrieve and parse Preferred Drug Lists (PDLs) from insurers so you never have to guess what changed.

Why we built this

As practicing physicians, we lived this problem daily. We watched colleagues dig through lengthy PDF formularies while pharmacists waited on hold. We saw the same prior auth rejections that could have been avoided with better information upfront. We knew the data existed somewhere, but accessing it in a usable way seemed impossible.

So we built what we wished existed: a tool that pulls formulary data directly from insurers, normalizes it, and makes it searchable in seconds. No more hunting through PDFs. No more guessing what changed this month.
